I have combined an embroidered sewing border with a tiny 4” traditional pieced ‘Bird’s Nest’ block which I have made using the English paper piecing method and pre-cut paper liners to help with accuracy.
The old timber fence picture frame sets the design off perfectly.

Assorted soft green, soft blue and cream tonals in different shades and prints (min size each piece 2½” square), pieced block
Stranded embroidery Floss, I used Valdani #P3 aged white, #O511 black sea, #O126 old cottage grey, #P10 antique violet, #JP12 seaside, #P5 tarnished gold, #078 aged wine, #H212 faded brown, #O575 crispy leaf and #O578 primitive blue
Pre-cut paper liners for the 4” Bird’s Nest block
